Analyzing Power
To get the best drill performance, the key factor is to analyze the required Torque when the drill is at its highest speed. The most common misconception about the performance of the drill is that the assume that if higher the Torque rating is, faster the drill will complete the task. That is not true in all instances. 

Torque is the power or force produced by the drill to turn an object, not how fast an object will turn. In recent development and practices, the torque rating have been increased beyond the level required to turn an object. According to new developments, the performance of the drill is measured by combining torque and speed. which is called power.

Performance Level

  • By the ability of a device to produce work, power can be measured.
  • Speed X’s Torque/K = Power is used to measure power.
  • The value of the K is constant and vary on the unit used to measure Torque.
  • Speed of the drill is how fast it turns. (revolutions/minute)
  • Torque is the power or force produced by the drill to turn an object.
  • The amount of work completed in a given time is called Power.

 

Traditional Way To Measure  Torque Rating

  • Use rig to mount the drill
  • A fix spindle is used to lock the chuck
  • Drill is fully charged.
  • At 0 rpm, Torque level is measured. (does not measure speed)

 

Latest Method To Measure Voltage Level:

  • Use rig to mount the drill
  • A rotating spindle is used to lock the chuck
  • Drill is fully charged.
  • Apply increasing Torque load.
  • Multiple data points are used to measure speed and torque.

 The Voltage Level

  To design products, for many years, drill’s Voltage Level has been used. Now it is used as a new way to evaluate a drill’s performance level, an indication of how fast it will complete a job.

Units Watts Out (UWO) is used to measure drill’s Voltage Rating. It is the point where the drill’s speed and torque values are the highest. Higher the UWO or drill’s power rating, faster the performance will be.
